Spa in a Forest

"Saunas are one of my favourite places to design as physical embodiments of liminal space, transformational spaces for the mind and body."
JONATHAN FRIEDMAN
Drawing on ancient forest sauna rituals of Japan and Finland
the Forest Spa celebrates the act of bathing, restoration and reconnection.
Time slows amongst the old-growth forest and billion-year-old granite rock, an untouched primordial setting. A series of outdoor pools nestle into the rock, connected by cedar platforms.
The architecture is pared back in material and form, allowing all senses to engage: shadows playing over surfaces, the creak of wood boards underfoot, the smell of cedar, and the sound of water running over rocks.
